Kiara Smith
Baltimore, MD United StatesHow Kiara studies
"To study, I normally go to my room, set my materials down on my desk, and start typing or writing. The best way for me to study is in complete silence where I let my mind do the thinking and my hands do the typing/ writing. Having a clear mind, helps my ideas flow with no pressure."
"...I believe any thought when studying is something that should be considered; even if its self-doubt statements/questions."
“Think Outside the Stigma” & “The Value of Study ”- The ideas we love:
On eliminating medical discrimination and stigma against people diagnosed with mental illnesses:
"...[become] sufficiently educated on mental illness and how serious they are. People who act oblivious or do not believe in mental illnesses are usually the people who have not dealt with them hands on."
"...tested on the general terms and reasons on common mental illnesses."
"...participate in mental illness events "
On why the study of history is still important
"...so that horrific things don't repeat themselves. "
"...History does shape the world and different concepts by presenting the difficult questions. "
"...if there is something specific to be covered people must know where it stems from. "

Malique Nelson-Hines
Washington, DC United StatesHow Malique studies
"To study I go to my desk, pull out a book to write in and either my [physical] or digital book that is assigned. Then I proceed to go through the book and jot down notes on what I read and try to answer the interactive question woven through the text, checking my notes if I don't remember the answer on my own"
"...then after I'm done going back over my notes in the following days to study more... looking up words that stick out to me because I don't know what they mean. "
“Think Outside the Stigma” & “The Value of Study ”- The ideas we love:
On eliminating medical discrimination and stigma against people diagnosed with mental illnesses:
"...create a class that helps work on the [courtesy] of doctors"
"...stress [in this class that] whether or not a person has a mental illness or not they should be treated with the utmost respect that you would give any patient.
"
"...have a form that is sent to patients after their treatment...to give a review of their doctor;...to see who is treating their patients according to the guidelines set in the class and if they are being completely accountable for their actions while treating someone. "
"...a set of punishment and rewards given to the doctors in turn for how they followed the guidelines"
On why the study of history is still important
"...no matter how far we go as people, the past can always teach us something, especially the idea to learn from past mistakes. "
"Even though we have been doing well for ourselves and have managed to make advancements so great that they have rocketed the human age into a new age, what's the point if we forget where we came from and forget what we've fought for. "
"All the technology in the world can't help if people continue to hate each other because of what those in the past, that don't know what we do now - have done. "
"...you understand the mistakes that a group can make that lead to a negative outcome for the people"
