The Value of Study

On Why the Study of History Is Still Important

"Even though we have been doing well for ourselves and have managed to make advancements so great that they have rocketed the human age into a new age, what's the point if we forget where we came from and forget what we've fought for"
- Malique Nelson-Hines

Think Outside the Stigma

On Eliminating Medical Discrimination and Stigma Against People Diagnosed With Mental Illnesses:

"...create a class that helps work on the courtesy of doctors...stress whether or not a person has a mental illness or not they should be treated with the utmost respect that you would give any patient."
- Malique Nelson-Hines

How Malique Studies

"To study I go to my desk, pull out a book to write in and either my physical or digital book that is assigned. Then I proceed to go through the book and jot down notes on what I read and try to answer the interactive question woven through the text, checking my notes if I don't remember the answer on my own... then after I'm done going back over my notes in the following days to study more... looking up words that stick out to me because I don't know what they mean. "

Select Quotes:

On Eliminating Medical Discrimination and Stigma Against People Diagnosed With Mental Illnesses:

"...have a form that is sent to patients after their treatment...to give a review of their doctor;...to see who is treating their patients according to the guidelines set in the class and if they are being completely accountable for their actions while treating someone. "

"...a set of punishment and rewards given to the doctors in turn for how they followed the guidelines"

On Why the Study of History Is Still Important

"...no matter how far we go as people, the past can always teach us something, especially the idea to learn from past mistakes. "

"All the technology in the world can't help if people continue to hate each other because of what those in the past, that don't know what we do now - have done. "

"...you understand the mistakes that a group can make that lead to a negative outcome for the people"
