The Value of Study

On Why the Study of History Is Still Important

"With the rise of digital technology, many people long for genuine connection and learning how to from a pre digital era is why history is so important. "
- Claudia Sheka Duverglas

Think Outside the Stigma

On Eliminating Medical Discrimination and Stigma Against People Diagnosed With Mental Illnesses:

"...require an addition of mental illness discrimination courses within medical schools across the country. I want the next generation of doctors to have an understanding of these illnesses and to break the stigma of patients suffering from these diagnoses. "
- Claudia Sheka Duverglas

How Claudia Studies

"My favorite way of studying is playing teacher. I will look at the material I need, stand up, and recite everything I know as if I am teaching a lecture. I like to hear myself out loud. Am I making sense? Do I understand what I am speaking out loud? I ask myself these questions."

"Oftentimes, I will begin to explain and then get stumped. Getting stumped is great because I realize what I do not need to know and I can look back to my notes and study them over again. "

"education is key…with awareness and education, biases can be broken "

"I want to generate doctors who will have the awareness of these issues, biases, and pitfalls discrimination has caused for people suffering from mental health illness"

"require that in order [for current doctors] to renew their licenses, change their licensing state, and continue practicing at their hospitals to take a virtual online course debunking stigmas towards mental health and how to prevent discrimination at their offices."

"mandatory classes… as well as charges against their medical license and practice, if proven discriminatory…will lead the way to just practices"

"required educational courses…will encourage better practices with current and future doctors across the United States. "

On Why the Study of History Is Still Important

"Humans need to learn from their past generations' mistakes and their accomplishments."

"humans can learn a lot about genuine social interactions prior to the digital and social media eras. Prior to 2000, face-to-face interactions were imperative to building genuine relationships and connections between people. We can learn from the standard for social interactions from then. People were forced to have a conversation and get to know each other... Comparatively today, humans often compare each other to other people's friendships, relationships, lives, and more."

"the new population needs to continue to progress but reflect and apply the social attributes of our ancestors to learn genuine methods of social interaction and connection."
